What to Expect From the Belotero Balance Treatment

A relatively recent but climactically proven addition to modern specialized cosmetic services, Belotero Balance received approval from the Federal Drug Administration in 2012. Like other dermal fillers that came before it, Belotero Balance is injected subcutaneously (beneath the skin) to help remove wrinkles and etched-in lines such as the nasolabial folds (the “smile lines” that appear around the lips with age and often extend upwards to the sides of the nose). In addition, Belotero Balance has been proven to smooth periorbital lines at the outside cornera of the eyes (“crow’s feet), “frown lines” between the eyebrows, and perioral lines that extend from the corners of the mouth downward to the jaw (“marionette lines”). Medical professionals have also used it to plump cheekbones, create fuller lips, and restore softness to hands, décolletage, and other noticeable areas of the body.

The Treatment Process

Belotero Balance is injected directly into the skin by a qualified healthcare professional using a fine-gauge needle as the patient sits or recline comfortably. Most people experience dramatic results immediately after the treatment is performed. In the wake of the procedure, some patients may experience mild swelling, irritation, redness, and/or bruising at the injection site. However, these side effects are no different than those that occasionally accompany other subcutaneous injections. In less than a week, all side effects should disappear as the full benefits of the Belotero Balance treatment persist.

Directly after the Belotero Balance Procedure

Extremely safe and minimally invasive, Belotero Balance treatments require little aftercare. However, patients should generally avoid strenuous activity, protracted exposure to sunlight and/or heat exposure, alcoholic beverages, and aspirin/non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for roughly a day after the procedure. In general, patients experience no downtime at all and can resume normal activities and return to their busy daily schedule immediately following their doctor visit.

Long after the Belotero Balance Procedure

Although individual results may vary, the typical Belotero Balance treatment will continue to produce benefits for a period of 6 to 12 months. Most patients still report to satisfying results after approximately 9 months. Factors that influence Belotero’s longevity include the amount of agent used and the specific area treated. In areas that experience more movement due to activities such as eating, talking, and facial expression, the effects of the Belotero Balance treatment may not last quite as long.
