What Can a Cosmetic Doctor Do for Me?

If you are unhappy with your appearance because of wrinkles, lines or sagging skin, a cosmetic doctor may be able to help you improve these conditions.

What is a Cosmetic Doctor?

A cosmetic doctor is a physician with specialized training and experience in aesthetic treatments designed to treat wrinkles, lines, and other related issues. When you visit a cosmetic doctor, he or she will perform a physical exam and talk to you about your options and aesthetic goals. He or she can also help you decide on the best course of action and develop a treatment plan that works for you.

What Treatments are Available?

Several different types of treatment may be available from a cosmetic doctor. Some of these treatments include:

BOTOX®

BOTOX is a common cosmetic treatment designed to treat lines and wrinkles that develop because of certain facial or neck muscles. BOTOX works by relaxing these muscles, reducing the associated wrinkles’ appearance.

Juvederm

Juvederm is an injectable dermal filler that can effectively treat folds and deep wrinkles. This treatment also increases the volume and hydration of the skin, which leads to a more youthful appearance. The results of Juvederm last for approximately one year.

Juvéderm Ultra

Juvederm Ultra is a facial filler that treats folds and wrinkles around the mouth and nose. This treatment lasts up to nine months and takes only 15 minutes to complete. Results are immediate.

Juvéderm® XC

Juvederm XC is a variation of Juvederm that contains a local anesthetic. This decreases the discomfort associated with treatment. The results of this procedure last for up to one year.

Am I a Candidate?

In order to be a candidate for these cosmetic treatments, you must typically be in good health. It is also important to have realistic expectations about your possible results. These cosmetic treatments are not appropriate for women who are pregnant or nursing.
